This was Kent's last year of Day Camp for activity days. He is so excited to be moving into Young Men's at the first of the year. The boys and girls go up together so I was up there with him too. Day Camp isn't my favorite, but this year was better than last year. Kent was pretty good at the bb guns actually. He loved playing gaga ball and they had a station this year that was creating with tinker like toys and magformers.

Maggie's Girls Camp
Maggie had Young Women camp a few weeks ago. I drove her and four other girls up to camp. I thought it was so weird that everyone was responsible to get their girls to camp. It was a mess of cars up there. I actually wasn't even going to be going until later because Maggie had cheer camp that day, but she got sick and came home early. She felt fine enough that we went to camp on time and I sent out a quick group me message to offer to drive girls with us.
Maggie wasn't super excited about it because it was a stake camp, but she had a lot of fun. The last night especially because she got to move into a tent with girls she is a little bit better friends with. They got super cute sweatshirts this year that she loves. There was a pool at the camp and they played games. Brad Wilcox and Elle Barry were the speakers for the two nights and she enjoyed both of their talks.
King's Peak High Adventure
Matt and Corbin went to High Adventure with our ward Young Men's this past week. They left on Thursday morning and hiked into Dollar Lake. Friday morning they hiked up to summit King's peak. As Matt was hiking/bouldering between Anderson pass and Gunsight pass he stepped on a boulder that started to slide. He stepped on another rock and it slid too. He ended up sliding, tumbling, falling 30 feet down the side of the mountain. He lost his shoe, his hat, and his phone as he tumbled. He cut his head in two different places, cut his legs in multiple places, bruised his butt terribly, hurt his ribs pretty bad, and hurt his wrist. Corbin didn't see Matt fall, but the boy standing next to Corb turned and said, "He died, your dad just died." Everyone who saw it said it was so scary. Amazingly, Matt was able to get up and hike back to base camp with our bishop, who is also a doctor. Bishop Jensen wanted Matt to hike out and head home to get stitches, but Matt was so sore everywhere he said he didn't want to hike the seven miles out that night. He also said he wouldn't pay for an ER visit so if they hiked out it would just be to go home. Bishop gave him a blessing and cleaned his cuts the best he could and wrapped them to get them to stop bleeding.
I got a text that afternoon from the bishops wife Jen saying Matt is okay after tumbling down the mountain. He cut his head and hurt his ribs, but he is okay to stay the night and hike out the next morning. So I didn't think it was a very big deal at all. I actually thought it was kind of weird they even let me know if it wasn't a big deal, but I am so glad they did. Malcolm called me at 11:40 that night saying Matt called him earlier and asked if he could go pick him up from the trail head to kings peak. Malcolm called to see if Matt was home or if I knew if he was okay. I told him he was fine because of the text Jen had sent me. After that I was a little more worried though. If Matt had called Malcolm to come get him it had to be bad.
The next day when they got home I realized how bad it actually was. One of the leaders that was there, Sean Glazier, told me he was terrified watching Matt fall. He told me, "God wants that man on this earth." Bishop was super concerned and wanted Matt to go into the clinic, but Matt wouldn't go. Bishop found me on Sunday to ask how Matt was doing because he felt like he wasn't telling him exactly how hurt he was. I told him his ribs were the most sore, and I can hear him breathe because it sounds so labored, but that I do think he seems to be okay. He already felt a lot better on Sunday than he had on Saturday.
Matt is miserable. He said he has never been so sore everywhere before. His ribs are the worst. Every time he moves they hurt. He can barely get up after laying down. Any time he moves outside of just walking you can see the pain on his face. He is seriously so blessed that it wasn't any worse, but I feel so bad for how much pain he is in.
Corbin was able to summit this time. He had not wanted to go because he got such terrible altitude sickness last time he tried. He got sick again this time and was throwing up, but he was able to make it to the peak.
Pleasant View Founder's Day Parade
Maggie was in the Founder's Day parade on Saturday. It was fun to watch her cheer for the first time. They weren't really cheering as they passed us, but luckily Maggie threw a few kicks for me. We were able to see MaKenna cheering with Weber's team too.
Corbin's 15th birthday
Corbin turned 15 this year! So crazy! His birthday was on a Sunday so we didn't do too much on his birthday. We opened presents at home, at Grandma Davis' and then at Grandma Jenkins. I bought him donuts the next day and then on Tuesday we went to get his drivers permit. He failed the test the first time, but luckily passed on his second try. He hasn't driven too much yet, but it is crazy we are already to this point.
Mesa Falls and Box Canyon
Friday morning we went to see Mesa Falls, Shannon's family had never been there. On our way out Matt, Claire, Van, and I stopped at Bear Gulch parking and hike to an abandoned mine that was pretty cool. Van and Claire were done and didn't want to be there, but Kent enjoyed it. Then we went to Big Jud's for lunch and Kael tried the one pound burger challenge. He didn't make it, but I don't blame him. The bun was massive and the food really wasn't even that good.
After lunch we tubed Box Canyon. It was freezing! The water was cold, and the outside temperature wasn't crazy hot. I was super unsure at first, but after we started going for a few minutes it turned out really fun. Van actually fell asleep tubing down the river. Claire would switch from my tube to Matt's and on her final switch to my tube before we got to the end she fell in. She was freezing, but actually stayed pretty calm. It was super shallow water and luckily we were close to getting out.

Civil Defense Caves
We explored the Civil Defense caves for a long time. It is a little bit of a rough road getting out to them, but fun once you are there. Matt stayed with Van tat the entrance this time because he gets too scared as we go deep into the cave. I went all the way back which I didn't get to do last time. The teenagers all went even further and found out where it narrows loops around and they met up with us that were in the back. It is sad how much graffiti is in the cave. I had to edit the picture of me, Corbin, and Maggie because we didn't realize how inappropriate the graffiti was behind us until after we were out of the cave. Jed and Cori explored going to the left after entering the cave and were gone forever. We finally send a few of the boys to go look for them and waited at the entrance. After a while Jed and Cori came to the entrance through the sage brush. They had found an exit at the ice caves a little ways away. Luckily the search party boys had given up and turned around and finally were all together.
