Trek

Matt and I were called to be a Ma and Pa for our stake trek at Martin's Cove. I have to admit my attitude was much less than positive in the weeks leading up to trek, but as usually I had a good time. We couldn't bring our camera, they had two people take all of the pictures. We ended up with more than I expected of us though. Our handcart and flag (that I never got around to signing.) The families are mixed between the entire stake, so I knew none of the youth in my family. I was a little worried the morning we left about how our family would do, but they did awesome. I was the only one in our family to get sick and that was just due to lack of food.
Yay for not having to cross the river. He "married a small one for things like this."

They gave us dolls that represented real babies on the trail. Ours was one that didn't make it. This is definitely something that had more meaning for me now than when I was a mia maid. It was devestating. Little Jane Walters is on the right.

Trek was a great experience. I gained a lot more from trekking as an adult than I did as a youth, although parts of it were much more fun as a youth. I'm glad for the opportunity, and I am glad it is over.

July, in a nutshell

Well, once Corbin got over being sick, our July has turned out to be a pretty fun summer month. I had Corbin in the ducky dippers swim class at North Shore and he loved it. He is so in love with water.

My birthday was a couple of weeks ago. We didn't do much to celebrate, but we did squeeze in dinner at the Roadhouse, oh yum! Then just shakes from Arctic Circle. This pictures is us waiting in the drive thru for our shakes. Not too exciting, but we never get pictures of us together anymore. Finally, Cinderella! My aunt planned a night for all the Thompson family girls to meet at the Terrace Playhouse to see Cinderella. My whole family went and we loved it. It was a way cute play and a fun break from the boys.

Still Sick!

What a sad little boy!
Well, I should be at church right now, but my child is still sick. Will he ever recover? Wednesday morning he woke up throwing up. That same day my poor little guy had to get his one year
shots, so he has been pretty miserable. Because of the mix of illnesses we missed out on my family's vacation and have spend the last four days with a sick, whinny, only wants to be held baby. He couldn't even walk on his legs until yesterday because they were so sore. To make matters worse, Matt and I both came down with the flu, or whatever we all have had, on Thursday night. I was so sick I couldn't even take care of Corbin. My wonderful mother-in-law had to come pick him up and take care of him until Matt finished his test at school. I don't think I realized how exhausting it is to have a sick child. He doesn't know what he wants, let alone me. He has been ridiculously clingy to Matt and screams the second anyone, including me tries to pry Corbin out of Matt's arms.

His stats were interesting to me at his one year appt though. He is now only 25% for his weight, not eating the last four days really isn't helping him out there. He is 65% for his height and still only 20% for his head.

Let Freedom Ring . . .

Well Independence day was a little different this year than usual. Corbin was pretty dazed during the parade, and didn't really care what was going on. He perked up a little for breakfast and had a blast "riding" Beau's bike around.

It was way past time for a nap when we went to the park so he missed out on the festivities. He was definitely ready when it came time to put the swim suit on.
Gage was acting like Corbin was kicking him on the swings, and Corbin thought it was so funny! No fireworks for this family, Corbin was ready for bed by 6 pm. I love fireworks, but I might just have to miss out on them for the next few years.

WATER

This little boy is obsesssed with water. He has always loved the tub, but now that it is summer he has so many more options. It doesn't matter if it's a pool, a hose, or just a cup of water, he loves it.

My sisters are always telling there kids not to splash on his face, while Corbin is laughing that he just got wet. There isn't much about the water he doesn't like.
