Martha Stewart Shower

Last night was Michelle's Martha Stewart Shower. Martha Stewart, her mother-in-law to be was the inpiration of Marianne's maddness. As usual, the M's were wonderful hosts.
For the game everyone had to write down the correct name for random kitchen gadgets. If I had played I know I would have failed. Who really has heard of half of these things, let alone actually uses them? Michelle got so many wonderful gifts. This is her modeling the apron Marie made her.
Kathleen's gift was a variety of "work and play" gifts. I loved when Michelle opened the laundry degergent thinking it was supposed to be play. Luckily she had misunderstood. Kathleen definitely knows work and play better than that.
I wish I had recorded the best part of the shower. Jennifer is the most creative poem writer ever and definitely put her skills to work for Michelle. If you weren't there, you missed out on the best panties poem ever. Your loss!

Calf Creek

This past weekend Matt's family all went to Calf Creek, near Escalante. It was a long drive, but it was really fun. This is just a scenic overlook off the side of the road on our way there.
On Friday we hiked the lower falls trail of Calf Creek. The way up was perfect, but it was so hot on the way back down. We didn't bring enough water either, so everyone was dying of thirst. Malcolm had me carry Morgan about half way down so he could run back to our truck and get extra water. That extra 20 pounds made a huge difference in my hiking ability, I was so tired by the end. It was well worth it. The waterfall was so gorgeous, and a lot bigger than I was expecting.
The water was freezing, but that didn't stop the boys or Morgan. I think Morgan had more fun than anyone by far. I wish I had a picture of her, she was loving it!
Megan loved me the whole trip. I think she actually like me more than Matt for once, that's an accomplishment! I loved it.

Pioneer Days Rodeo

Monday night my entire family went to the Ogden Rodeo. I think that is always one of my favorite things about the 24th of July. That has definitely changed as I've gotten older. My first rodeo was on my 10th birthday. It was just me and my dad and we had seats right above the bull pens. I left terrified of rodeos. One of the muttin bustin' kids was sent to the hospital in an ambulance, one bull rider got thrown off while still in the pen and I am pretty sure one other person got hurt. I came home from the rodeo crying to my mom how terrible it was. Thank goodness I went back - I love rodeos!
This was one of my many attempts to keep Gage away from Matt for a minute or two. He absolutely loves Matt, and Matt loves him just as much.
The perfect place for Jed's mustache. You can't see it great in this picture, but look close, it's all waxed and ready to go!
We were too far away to get any good pictures of bareback or bull riding so here is the steer wrestling and team roping. It was a good rodeo with some great cowboys.
This really made me want to go to the Finals in Vegas this December. My parents won tickets and Matt and I are thinking we might have to buy some and tag along.

Bear Lake

This past weekend Austin & Shawnee invited us to his parents cabin in Bear Lake. Shane and McKenzee were there too with his dad's boat. Friday morning we were out on the lake. The rest of the day we just got some shakes and then hung out at the cabin. It was a short trip, we came home Sunday morning, but it was way fun. Thanks Austin & Shawnee for the invite!
Austin jumping the wake. Timing on pictures like this is quite difficult. I thought they turned out pretty good though.
This is the first time I saw Matt wakeboard. I was very impressed, especially how well he did for the first time of the year and being sick. Here he is clearing the wake as well.
The water was pretty choppy so it was hard to try too much. I could barely even do anything. It was great just to be on a boat for the first time this year.

Moab 4th

Over the 4th of July, Jared and Laurie Lattin and Matt and I went to Moab. The first night we stayed in a cheapo motel that kind of gave me the creeps, but the rest of the trip was great. Friday we hiked up to Delicate Arch in the heat of the day! It was only like 95 but on the slick rock it felt way hotter.

Then we hiked around in the fiery furnace, which was by far my favorite part of our trip. It was so awesome to see all of the crazy rock formations and slot canyons.

Matt climbing Potato Salad Hill. This picture doesn't do it justice, I was terrified. The noises scare me more than anything, I think.

Saturday I braved my first jeep trail, Fins 'n' Things. Jared was kind enough to choose a somewhat easy one knowing I had never been before, but there were still a few places that I was pretty nervous. I did much better than expected though. For the most part it was way fun!

These are some of our favorite spots from the scenic trails we did the rest of the day.
Matt is way too daring for me. Here he is sitting on the very thinnest section of Gemini Bridge. It was only about eight inches until there was a huge canyon below.

Here he jumped eight feet to be on this lone rock. This was made everyone nervous (finally, not just me!), even the couple we didn't know standing by us.

All New Blog

So I was crazy bored at work today and decided to start a blog for me and Matt. I don't know what I'm doing yet, and actually don't have internet access at our house, but I'll keep up the best I can.
