Claire's splint

On the night of Easter, Claire and Kent were out jumping on my mom's tramp. Kent bounced her and Claire hurt her leg pretty bad. I didn't know if it was broken or not, but she was so sad. I carried her inside and she cried for at least a half hour and wouldn't move off the couch. We went to Marianne's for dinner and she didn't ever move while we were their either. She did let someone carry her upstairs, but that was it. She didn't get down to play at all, so then I was more worried. The next morning she had to be carried out of her bed and still couldn't put weight on it so I took her in to the doctor. They took xrays and couldn't find a break. It could have possibly been just a deep tissue bruise. They put her in a splint just in case they had missed something and told us to come back in a week. It was a long week! She couldn't walk at all. I had to carry her everywhere. She was awesome the first day and then she realized how boring it was really fast. by the end of the week I was going crazy. It was nice that the weather was decently warm that week. We went on lots of wagon rides, but that was hard because Van had to walk so we never got very far. I tried putting them in the bike trailer once which worked well, except I am not in good biking shape pulling a 60 pound trailer. Erin and her family dropped off a cute little sunshine basket, which she loved!
The next monday they took off the splint and she still wouldn't put weight on it. The took x rays again and didn't find anything. By the end of the appointment she would hobble on it a little so he said it was probably fine and it would just continue to heal. She struggled to walk for a few days and I wasn't sure if it was in her head or if it really had something wrong with it. She is pretty much back to normal now though. Every once in a while if she thinks too much about it she will complain or limp or run funny, but I think it is fine. I am really glad it wasn't broken because one week in the splint was more than enough for the both of us.

REAL game

KBell has seven season tickets for REAL soccer games. We were able to take our family after antelope island. It was probably a little too much for one day, but still worth it. We ran out of time and found a really good parking spot so we ended up buying food in the stadium, which was expensive and the kids didn't really even love it. Corbin, Maggie, and Kent were so excited though! Corbin is big into soccer right now and Kent is a little too. They loved the whole thing. Claire and Van really loved the playground outside of the stadium. I watched the first fifteen or twenty minutes and then spent the rest of the first half at the playground. Matt came out and switched me at half time so I went in and watched for fifteen minutes. In that time, REAL scored the only three goals of the game. Matt missed it all. I took the littles back out after that and then we left a few minutes early. I probably wouldn't take my littles again, but it was a fun little family night for sure!

Antelope Island

This year was so fun at Antelope Island. The weather was impressively nice for what a cold crazy winter and spring we have had. We didn't have any soccer games this year so we could all go together and on time. Kathleen brought a dump truck that Van was in love with and played with the entire time, except for when he was on the hunt for eggs. Claire loved flying a kite and exploring with Jack. Corbin tried out flying a kite too. This is the only day of the year my kids ever fly kites. All the kids were busy exploring and just hanging out with cousins. The Easter egg hunt is a favorite for the kids. Corbin is too old so he helped Van and this was Maggie's last year. Lunch is always dutch oven, so good! Antelope Island is my very favorite tradition!

Maggie is 11!

Maggie's birthday is always over spring break. This year I thought we could do some fun things during the week, but at least one person was sick every day, it went through all of us. In the morning we had to wait forever for the boys to wake up and then she was able to open her gift of an outfit and sunglasses.
Later in the day, Grandma Davis took her shopping. Shannon and I went too. We went down to farmington station. She loved it! She got a couple new shirts, but her favorite things were a sugar scrub and wall flower from Bath and Body Works.
She celebrated at the Jenkins' the next Sunday and she has a birthday party this coming weekend, so she was able to have lots of celebrations this year.

Leprechaun trap

The day before St. Patrick's day Claire really wanted to make a leprechaun trap. That style of crafts are not really my style. I started painting rocks with her to be gold and that was as far as I got. That night Maggie ended up babysitting while I was at a church meeting and I came home to a darling house, not a trap! After Claire went to sleep that night, Maggie even wrote a note from the Lila the leprechaun to Claire! My only job was to stop and buy chocolate gold coins, which of course I didn't, but it was still darling, and Claire was excited the next morning.

Haircuts

Claire cut her and Van's hair. Van's was super easy to fix because I just took him into sports clips the next morning. I actually was shocked at how well he did. I prepared the girl for absolute terror like he had always been in the past, but luckily he surprised us. He sat perfectly still and watched his show.
Claire's I wasn't sure what to do with. It needed to be fixed, but I wanted to make sure whoever fixed it was good and I have never been happy with just a great clips hair cut. The next day at school was crazy day so it was easy to do lots of little ponies to hide it. Then I was able to get her in to a girl that cuts Meredith's girl's hair. It turned out super cute. I actually really liked it short, I think I will go even shorter next time for a true bob and try that for a while.
