School Carnival

Green Acres had the school carnival tonight put on by the PTO. It is definitely a carnival lacking some things, but my kids enjoyed it. Claire waited in line from the second we got there for an hour to get her face painted. She was very happy with it!

Van had to wait in line with Claire for the first half hour, but luckily Matt ended up coming and took him to the playground and bought him a snow cone.

Maggie loves pretty much anything that she can wander around and socialize. I didn't really see her the entire time we were there.

Kent actually enjoyed the games. I think he played everything at least once.

Corbin is a peer leader this year so he was in charge of running booths all night.

Hair Cut

Van got his first official hair cut! I actually really liked Van's long hair. I also thought it made his head look a little smaller. But I am obsessed with his short hair! He looks so handsome.

The Sea Serpent

A few weeks ago Matt and Corbin got the idea of making a cardboard boat. I had no idea the extent of what they were thinking. Matt brought home a water heater box and helped them cut it and tape up the frame of the boat. Then Corbin and Maggie spent multiple nights putting on like five rolls of duct tape. Matt added a couple pipes for seats. They sprayed it with flex seal to try and make it more water proof and then finally painted it. When it was finally finished they took it out to Willard to see if it would float. Van was napping so I missed it, but they said it floated for over 20 minutes. It ended up being about $40 and so many nights spent outside working together.

Peaches

Our stake is involved in the Peach Orchard for the Church in Pleasant View. They are always asking for volunteers and I never go because I have all the kids. Maggie kept asking to go this year and I wanted my kids to participate so I decided to just bring them. We lasted for less than an hour, but it was a good experience. Corbin and Maggie were able to pick pretty effectively. Kent helped really good at first, but then he got itchy. He was able to fill his back a couple times though. Claire and Van were pretty bored, but I am glad I took them all.

Later in the day we picked the rest of the peaches off our tree. I didn't want to bottle this year so I let the kids set up a peach stand to sell the best of what we had. The only thing I really like about selling things is from set up to clean up they were busy for almost four hours. Clarie just kept making more signs. I did think it was cute when they asked me to do my "Internet Magic" when they hadn't had anyone come buy peaches yet. So I put this picture on instagram and by the end they made almost $30!

Claire's first day

Claire started three year old preschool on the 7th. She goes to Wee Wonders with Ms. Megan. She was so excited for it to finally be her turn to go to school. She was up and ready by 7:30 asking when it was time to leave.

She had to miss her second day because she was sick, but she started back up again this week and loves it. I bought her this cute rainbow shirt for school and she thinks it is the only shirt she can wear to school. She wore it the first two days and then I had to talk her out of it because it was dirty today. She has alternated between the two pair of pants I bought her for school.

Labor Day

We went swimming at Melissa's house on Labor Day. Matt stayed home because he was sick. My kids had so much fun. It was probably the last time we will go this season. We used Missy's pool quite a bit this year. Her pool was a lot colder than it was earlier in the summer. Van and Claire didn't last very long at all. Claire entertained herself by wearing Van's swimming suit (that I really had to force to get on Van.) Corbin, Maggie, and Kent were mad that we had to leave as early as we did. It is always hard to please the older and younger ones at the same time.

Nine months

Van was nine months on August 20th. At his appointment he was 21 lbs 12 oz (80%) 29 in (70%) and only 99% for his head this time! He is crawling everywhere and walking along furniture.
