Easter has so much that goes along with it and so many fun traditions. Now that Corbin is getting older, they are all just getting to be more fun. We colored Easter eggs for the first time this year. Corb loved it! It was not at all fun with Maggie so I colored a few with Corb and then Matt colored a few when I took Mags.
Saturday was the annual Antelope Island day. This is my favorite tradition of the Jenkins'. We fly kites, have an Easter egg hunt and enjoy delicious dutch oven cooking. Both of our kids loved it this year. Maggie did such a good job walking around on the uneven ground, or was perfectly content in Melissa's arms. The Easter egg hunt is one of a kind, with 26 eggs each. And the weather was absolutely perfect this year! Windy in the morning so we flew our kites without any trouble at all and warm and sunny the rest of the day. We all fared pretty good without too much sun except for Matt because he doesn't believe in sunscreen.
We went straight from Antelope Island to my Grandpa Thompson's house for another party. This one was complete with hamburgers off the grill, three legged races, and another egg hunt.
This was the first family party Matt had ever been to at my Grandpa's.
That is seriously depressing to me. We used to be down there all the
time. I loved being able to go down for what could possibly be the last time. I have so many wonderful memories of this house.
I am so in love with this picture because it reminds me of all the pictures I have of me and my cousins on that very step!
Easter morning our kids baskets were waiting for them on the couch.
Corb was thrilled he finally got paint because he has been asking for paint for months. He didn't want to do anything until after he painted a picture, so breakfast was on hold. Corbin also got sidewalk chalk that we tried out as soon as Maggie took a nap. Maggie got two bath books that are my all time favorite because she can chew, slobber, do whatever to them and they withstand it all, but they never make it to the bathtub.
And to wrap it all up, after church we headed out to my moms for our final Easter celebration. Our kids were sporting their darling new Easter clothes. They scored more surprises in their buckets from Grandpa and Grandma Davis. We are spoiled to have so much and such a wonderful family.
I love my family, and the expression on Maggie's face pretty much is how her whole day was, she was not a happy camper.
In all of the fun and excitement it is so easy to overlook the meaning of these important holidays. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. That he died for me and that on the third day he was resurrected. I know he loves me! I was so impressed with the knowledge my one four year old had in primary today. I hope that I can do a better job of teaching my kids the importance of Easter and the role of the Savior in my life and theirs.
