Living Planet Aquarium

This weekend Matt and I watched our niece, Megan. She was so good. She came over Friday night before bed and Matt brought her out to his mom's Sunday afternoon. Saturday we ventured down the the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. They had a brine shrimp boat to sit on and a few coral reef cave type things to climb through. It isn't very big, but we had a great time. It was all we could do to try and get Megan to smile, but these turned out really cute.
This was mine and Matt's first time and we really enjoyed it. There are some way cool things and if you have kids some way cute picture taking spots. The mother by us had a way nice camera and was snapping away of her two girls, trying to position them just perfect. Kind of reminded me of someone I know!
For a souvenier we had to buy Megan this cute turtle backpack. It was the hit with all the kids we noticed, and way too cute and affordable to pass up. She seemed to love it.

Attitude

My new goal I need to work on is having a better attitude. I let stupid little things drive me crazy and can't get past them. This stems from being frustrated with my calling (and a couple of other things), but I thought it would be could to post a few little inspiring thoughts to help remind me I am in complete control of my attitude.

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. ~Winston Churchill

If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it. ~Mary Engelbreit

It's not so much what happens to us, but how we deal with what happens to us ~ James E. Faust

Things are how they are and complaining doesn't help. ~ John H. Groberg

Regardless of your present age, you are building your life; … it can be full of joy and happiness, or it can be full of misery. It all depends upon you and your attitudes, for your altitude, or the height you climb, is dependent upon your attitude or your response to situations. ~ Spencer W. Kimball

Because we have a knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ and know that we are spirit children of God, we should be the most positive-thinking people in the world. ~Preparing for Exaltation: Teacher’s Manual

Gotta Love Fall

I love fall! These pictures were taken from my desk. I have a huge window right behind me with the best view ever! One day when I have a house, these trees will so be in my yard. They are so bright, I love to just stare.

Moab

This past weekend all the Davis girls and their families went down to Moab for a short little vacation. We didn't do much, but it was way fun. Friday morning we hiked to Morning Glory Arch, such a pretty hike and for all the kids. The boys did way good for a four mile hike, they basically walked the entire thing. All the kids were wonderful the whole trip.
I don't have a picture of the arch, but the entire hike was a great view. The temperature was perfect and the leaves were starting to change colors, so it was a great time to hike. We were able to camp one night, we went out to dinner, had a campfire with smores and strolled the shops on Main Street. It was the perfect little weekend getaway.

Questions of the Day

So my questions for the day are open for anyone, or they can simply be rhetorical, you choose.
1. Why in the world would anyone ever choose painting as a profession?
2. Why was wood paneling so popular the decade mine and all the houses around me were built?
3. Why does anyone need to put a new hole in the wall when there is already like 20 within a five inch square?
4. Why did I think I was capable of painting these terrible walls?
and finally, 5. Why did I ever have the ambition to paint these terrible walls???
So if you can't tell, painting wasn't my favorite thing. I went to Lowe's, which luckily is three minutes from our house last week and bought what I thought would be the complete painting kit for a one room, one color project. It turned out to be a little more than I expected. After spackling, sanding, and washing for seven hours, it's time to begin. I tape all the trim, on every single corner of the entire room and hall and run out of tape. Matt runs down to Lowe's for me and then i run out of that roll. I am not about to go buy another five dollar roll of tape so I just do without; bad idea! So Friday morning it's freezing outside, but I open my windows and start to paint. I turn my heater way down because it's too cold to ever shut off. I paint the first two walls, piece of cake, no problem. Then I start on the wood paneling. The roller won't get in the crevices of the paneling so I run a normal paint brush up and down every single slat. My hand is killing me by this point. Oh, I have no music because my computer won't get loud enough and my TV is in the center of the room, so it's pretty boring. I finish the first coat after forever, and let it dry. I do the second coat, much easier than the first until I run out of paint. Great now what? Oh, lets just be done. So two of my walls and all of my edges and crevices only got one coat of paint. Which, actually doesn't look that bad. Had it looked terrible I would have bought more, but I had about had it with painting. So I'm done for the day. The next day all I have is the shelf and the door and whala, a finished product. It is far from professional quality, but this is why I decided to paint in the first place: it looks so much better! Yes, the walls are still terrible, but some of the holes are at least covered up. My walls are actually a decent color and there are no huge spackle spots unpainted left. So, regardless of all that was said, it was worth it. We darn well better live here long enough to enjoy these lovely gray walls!

Now if we can just find a couple more pictures that we are looking for, our room will finally be complete.
