Willard Bay

Kent got a kayak for his birthday and we hadn't used them half way through summer. So I loaded the kayaks in the van and we went to Willard bay one afternoon with Steph and Shannon. Kent was terrified of the kayaks and wouldn't even try to get on them, but he would swim out as deep as any of the other kids. Steph brought a floating tumbling mat that the kids loved. Claire was pretty content just playing in the sand and I was perfectly fine with that! I love how much time my kids get to spend with their cousins during the summer.

4th of July

The morning of the fourth Maggie was the only one who rode her bike in the parade. Kent decorated his scooter, but he forgot to bring shoes so he didn't get to be in it.
We watched the parade, which I loved this year because every past mayor of Plain City had a float with his family in it. Claire loved the parade because she sat on Missy's lap with a sucker the whole time.
After the parade, Matt had to drive home to get Kent some shoes. We went to Grandma Barb's for breakfast and then to the square to play for a while.
I went back to my mom's to nap Claire. It was the best weather for the fourth. It even rained a little. My kids were able to play in bounce houses with the cooler breeze. My parents set up their pool, but it was even a little too cool to swim. The kids got in for a few minutes during a super sunny part of the day. Then they ended with a show while the adults sat outside to talk.
All the kids and Matt were asleep by nine. Cougar and I hung out and watched some peoples around us fireworks. He hated them. He was barking and freaking out with every pop.

July 3rd

The night of the 3rd of July Mark and Marianne had Olive Garden for dinner and the kids got to play all night. It ended up cooling off quite a bit and was windy so Kent was super disappointed that most of the fireworks were too big to light off.  He has been looking at the fireworks Grandma Jenkins bought every week for the past month or maybe more. Corbin was excited because he was old enough to help the big boys light some of the fireworks.
The highlight of this night for my kids (besides fireworks) is sleeping over at Grandma's. This honestly is my least favorite thing the Jenkins' do, but they have been doing it since Matt was a kid. I took Claire home, but the other kids all got to sleep over.

Corbin's Birthday

Corbin's birthday was on a Saturday this year and he wanted a birthday party. So we celebrated with his friends on his birthday. I hired a company to do an acrylic paint party. She came and set up, brought everything, and cleaned up. The kids I think had a lot of fun. They got to choose what kind of painting and what colors and the lady showed them how to do it. They put the colors they wanted in a cup and then dumped them on a canvas. They could pick up the canvas to spread the paint or use a straw to blow the paint in different directions. It was cool how different every painting turned out.
It didn't take nearly as long as I expected so we played red rover and a few other games I had on hand. Corbin wasn't too thrilled about that, but it went great.
Instead of cake I was able to just buy doughnuts, so this party was so easy!
He got lots of awesome things, and the party went over great!
It is crazy to think I already have a nine year old! I love you Corb!
