My New Hobby

I am part of a learning circle that reads articles about being a mom. Our article last week was "I was smart, cute, and fun . . . and then I became a mom." It talked about how we need to take time for ourselves in order to have enough to give to our families. One challenge was to learn something new. I have wanted to decorate cakes for so long, but really, who has the time. After learning circle, I decided I have no hobbies and I should, so I am going to teach myself how to decorate cakes.
Thanks to Melissa, I am kid free today and I tried out my first cake using fondant frosting. It is super simple, but I am still so proud of it!
I don't need to be a pro, or decorate wedding cakes or anything fancy, but I want to be able to my my kiddos the cute cakes they want. It won't be something I will be able to do often even, but I am excited about my new hobby!

Say Cheese

Maggie is such a happy little girl. She cracks me up sometimes. I have been trying to take more pictures of her because I have so many of Corbin. For every good picture I get, there are a few of these that sneak in. So many crazy faces.

And then the prettiest face that I can't get enough of.

Bath Time

When Maggie was born a girl in my ward gave me some fizzy tub tablets that colored the bath water. I have been looking for them ever since because Corbin was in love with them. Finally the other day I asked her about them and brought home a container of 150 fizzy tub tablets. They really are so cool, they dissolve in the water, but Corbin likes to color all over his body first.
So he loves the bath tub when we are playing, and then about two minutes later he screams hysterically as I try to get him clean and force in to stay in the tub at the same time. I was hoping these tabs would help him handle the cleaning part better, but it did not work. He is completely terrified of getting shampoo in his eyes (even tear free), but makes it worse by looking down the entire time.

Firsts

Both of my kids had a new "first" this past week. Maggie had her first ponytail. Even if I didn't get to do it, it was still cute. Her hair needs to be a little bit thicker, but I still loved it. Next time Melissa puts Maggie's hair in a ponytail though, she gets to take it out. Maggie was ticked! It made me not want to pull her hair up ever again.
Corbin made his first snowman ever, and named him Beau, of course. It was SO nice to finally play outside yesterday! It was so warm and Maggie took a long nap that gave us plenty of time to enjoy the snow.
