Fourth of July

The fourth of July is not my favorite holiday. It actually just stresses me out and is extremely hot! My kids love it though!
We spend the afternoon of the third out on Willard Bay with my dad in his boat. My kids rode the tube and absolutely loved it. We got back pretty late so we didn't even have time to go home. I bathed them at my mom's and then went straight over to Marianne's for dinner. We hung out there for a while and then just as they were getting ready to start fireworks Matt and I had to go home and get all of our sleep over stuff and clothes and bikes for the fourth. So we missed all the fireworks. When we got back everyone was talking about how great they were this year.
It was about 11 o'clock and they were just setting up a projector to watch a movie. I can't handle the late nights so I left Matt with all three kids and I went to sleep at my parents. From what I hear, sleep was extremely sparse, and I could tell on Wednesday morning. Maggie definitely does the worst of our kids with little sleep and she was a wreck! It took all morning just to get her dressed and her hair done. Once we were going for the day, she did much better.
This was the first year they rode their bikes in the bike parade. We went over to our neighbors house on the third and all the neighbor kids decorated together, it was a super cute idea. Then they decorated even more when we got to Grandma Jenkins' house because all the other cousins were decorating their bikes. I don't think Corbin liked the parade at all. His new bike is a touch big for him so he had a hard time riding slow. He ending up stopping at my parents house.

We watched the parade and then headed over to Barbara's house for breakfast.
Kent loved the fire trucks. He actually had more fun watching a lot of the parade than picking up the candy.

All the Jenkins' grandkids, even baby Jack got to come visit on the fourth.
We went to Plain City town square for a few minutes, but it was so miserably hot that Matt and I couldn't last. The kids did a couple little games and then we headed back to my parents to swim.

Corbin had a lot of fun swimming, you just can't tell in this picture. Even Matt and I went swimming in my parents little three foot pool because we were melting. Kent slept most of the afternoon so he missed out on swimming. My kids were so completely exhausted by the end of the day. We headed home about five thirty and Corbin and Maggie both fell asleep. Corbin didn't wake up until 6 am and then fell back asleep until 8. Maggie woke up a couple times in the night to get a drink but didn't get up for the day until 7. They are still tired today.

Call's Fort Ski Lake

Last weekend one of Matt's young men invited him to play on his team for a volleyball tournament at the lake his family owns. At first I didn't want to go, but he told me they invited the whole family to go up. I am so glad we went! It was such a great day. They have a great beach with shade and awesome sand. The kids had plenty of water they could touch in and loved to play. We even got to go out on the boat. Matt and I both wake boarded and Corbin tried knee boarding and did so awesome! It was pretty amazing to see some of the skiers up there. They are so amazing! One of the men we saw do jumps off the ramp. The others were slolem skiing the course they have.
The team Matt played on for volleyball was not too great and lost every game they played, but it was fun to watch still. We got there at nine and stayed until about 2:30 and our kids were so sad we were leaving so early.

Upstart Graduation

For the past year Maggie has been doing Upstart, we call it Rusty and Rosy, a free online preschool. She did so great at it and really learned a ton. The majority of the year she would do it great with hardly being asked at all. After Ms. Helen's preschool was finished this one was so hard to keep going! It took a ton of reminding and prodding. I am so glad I did it, but we took the very earliest graduation date available because I am sick of fighting her on it now. It makes me sad that she will forget so much of what she learned over the summer, but it is great to have one less thing I am nagging her about. It really is an amazing and fun program and over all she loved it!
