The Major

Every year for Veterans day The Major gets hung in Coldwater Canyon. Shannon and I hiked to it when Van was at preschool last week. It was a super cold, windy morning so it wasn't at all busy. It was a perfect day to go. Corbin and Matt went with the Young Men on Wednesday. Then Kent went with his friend and their family on Saturday. It is such a great hike with a perfect ending destination.

Halloween

Halloween this year was pretty simple, just store bought costumes. Kent was Obi-Won-Kenobi. Claire was a last minute witch. We got her costume from amazon the day before Halloween. Van was a dragon, which he was quite pleased with. Van had a preschool Halloween party so they were all dressed and ready in the morning. I dropped Van off and then went to the elementary costume parade. My mom came up and we went to lunch when Van finished preschool. Then after school Maggie and Corbin just threw on a football jersey. We went to visit grandparents and then rushed home so everyone, except Van, could meet up with friends. Corbin was with his friends and stopped by aunt Shelly's, so I was lucky enough to get a picture of him, Mason, and Ethan this year.

Carving Pumpkins

We had two pumpkin carving sessions this year. Maggie missed the first one because she was at dance, but we went to Missy's with all the Jenkins. Then our family did it on a Sunday afternoon with the pumpkins we had picked at the fruit stand with Grandma. I don't necessarily love this tradition. I feel like we aren't an artistic family and it ends in frustration more than anything else. It is more of a fun idea than a fun activity, but it still creates memories, maybe?

Fall Break

For Fall Break this year all the Jenkins girls (minus Michelle) went to St. George to see Frozen at Tuachan. We drove down Thursday, stopped at the house for a few minutes, went to dinner and then hit up Tuachan. The show was so great! We all really enjoyed it! By the end of the show it was getting windy and a little cool, but the majority of the show was perfect weather! That night the wind blew so hard and it was freezing cold on Friday. We couldn't do anything outside because it was so cold. So we went to the theater and saw The Wild Robot and then hung out at the house. That night most of us went to the Red Cliff temple and did baptisms or initiatory. The baptistry was slammed so I ended up waiting for over an hour for the girls to finish up. It was a good thing to have planned though since we couldn't do much else. The little girls stayed at the house and watched a movie with Grandma and Melanie. Saturday morning we packed up and went home. It was fun to get away for a the weekend.

Preschool pictures

Van's preschool pictures turned out so cute! Bright Beginnings Preschool class pictures and individuals. He was not pleased with the outfit I chose for him so I told him if I picked his clothes he could wear any shoes he wanted, figuring shoes wouldn't be seen in the pictures. Well, of course his shoes were completely visible! He looked adorable anyways.

Cornucopia Corn Maze

Van had his first preschool fieldtrip last month to the Hunt's family farm. It was a gorgeous day and so much fun! Van played in the corn pit, on the slide and on the swings for ever and loved it. I kept trying to convince him to go into the corn maze with me. Finally he agreed. We went in and he ran away from me in the first two minutes. I then convinced him to go out and play in the courtyard again. I realized the cornmaze would be a disaster if he ran away. We played for a while longer, rode the animal train, and pick out a pumpkin. Van was determined he would find the biggest pumpkin and he did a pretty good job!
