Nature Center

On Tuesday I got to take Maggie to the Ogden Nature Center for her preschool field trip. It was so great to have just me and her. It was during Kent's nap, so I asked Marianne to come watch my boys. I have been majorly struggling (like big time) with Maggie lately so it was fun to have some much needed one on one time and see her sweet personality shine through. She loved it too. She listened attentively to everything and was so excited!
Her favorite was decorating her jar and planting a tomato seed. Maggie is obsessed with projects and especially stickers so this was the perfect activity for her.
They didn't show us any animals or have us walk around to see the Nature Center at all as part of her field trip so we spent an hour afterwards checking everything out. We saw the eagles nest and all the birds. We went over lots of bridges and walked all the way to the observation tower.
Partway through we started walking around with some of her kids from preschool. It was really good for her because she is not loving school right now. She doesn't like to be away from me and some days won't even get out of the car to go. So after the field trip the next two days she had no problems going to school. Only six more days of school. I can hardly believe it is almost over. She keeps asking me to put her in a different preschool, but I'm not so I'm really hoping she does well this fall.

Four year old Maggie

Miss Maggie turned four on April 6th. She was so excited! She got to open one gift in the morning while Matt was at work, and then she had to wait to open all the rest until he got home. She got a princess bike helmet and was way happy. We rode our bikes to Green Acres after we got ready, but before we ever got home she said her helmet hurt her head too bad to wear it. It was a size 5-8 yrs, so I returned it and got an 8+. It is really too big for her, but she loves it and wears it all the time now, so it works for me.
Matt was able to get off a little early on her birthday. It was way nice because he hasn't had any time off this whole year. We went and fed the ducks and then she got to pick out her ice cream flavor.
She wanted an Aurora cake. She always tells me (and her teachers at school at church) that her real name is Aurora. Her papers from school even come home with Aurora written on them next to Maggie. I tried to make an Aurora skirt with a barbie in the middle, but it wasn't quite tall enough. I should have baked one more layer of cake, but Maggie was happy with it and I really didn't want that much cake. She thought her cake was perfect. She absolutely loved her new apron too.
She had quite the theme to her birthday. I got her an apron, My mom got her an Easy Bake Oven, and Marianne got her a ton of play food for her kitchen. I also got her dance clothes and Michelle bought her a dance bag. She was one spoiled four year old.
She was so cute though. She was so excited she was going crazy just talking everyone's ear off, and being so impatient for everyone to come for cake and ice cream and presents. We ended up having a late night from all the fun. It was a great birthday.
I love this cute four year old! Mag Pie has become quite the Mama's girl. Anytime I leave her with a babysitter or even for a play date she gets so sad (like ridiculously sad.) She has some serious attitude, but still loves to snuggle and be held. She is signed up to start dance in the fall and can't wait. She and Corbin have become such good little friends and play so well together (most of the time.) Happy Birthday Princess!

Easter Sunday

We had an excellent Easter Sunday this year. The Easter bunny came and visited our house, which was a big deal. I have issues with the Easter bunny so my kids knew that Matt and I gave them gifts, but that is not the cool thing obviously. So, this year, I didn't buy anything and if there baskets were full then the Easter bunny must have come. Really? The Easter bunny? I hate it, but my kids were happy! Holidays with kids are so fun.
At church, we enjoyed hearing a choir program about the Savior and I was able to do singing time in Primary about the special gifts we receive from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. For dinner we went to my parents and the kids had to hunt for their Easter basket. They were thrilled with the contents, especially a ty animal for each of them. This picture makes me slightly sad that I don't have a little Corbin any more, he is all the sudden grown up and just a boy.

Easter Saturday

Easter was early this year, and it was cold! We celebrated with the Jenkins on March 26th, Matt and my 7th wedding anniversary. Usually we go to Antelope Island, but the last few years the gnats were so bad we didn't dare try it this year. I was super sad because this is by far my favorite Jenkins' tradition, but it was still super fun. We just went to Pioneer Park in Plain City. We were still able to fly kites, eat a dutch oven lunch, do a huge Easter egg hunt, and this year we even colored Easter eggs.

Marianne bought little kites for the little kids to fly and they were hard to get up. Maggie's flew a little, but I never really saw Kent's in the air. He didn't seem to mind too much.
Because of Kent's previous love for dying eggs, we opted for him not to participate in the mess egg dying. This is Matt and Kent just chillin waiting for the big hunt.
This is the biggest egg hunt of the year for sure, with 26 huge eggs filled with toys, eggs, and two dollar bills. Kent insisted on carrying his own bucket until it got too heavy and he would drop an egg every time he picked it up. We helped Kent out a bit with the searching too.

It was kind of nice having it close this year because we were able to get home and nap Kent as soon as the festivities were over. It was a great Easter Saturday.
