Causey

We had our annual trip to Causey with the other Jenkins and the Holmes. My kids love this camping trip! Matt took all the kids except Corbin up on Thursday night and hung out until late. Corbin had a soccer game that I took him to. Then we all went up on Friday morning together for breakfast and stayed until Saturday about noon. It was a blast. The kids loved the motorcycle and the four wheeler. Matt set up an air soft relay course and timed them. We hiked around Causey and played in the water for a while. It was fun to see where I used to play when I was little. I hadn’t been there for so many years. Nothing can quite compete with camping. The kids entertained themselves and played so good together. We had a campfire and roasted biscuits. We played some games, but mostly just hung out and talked. It was a great little weekend!
Maggie was on the motorcycle and accidentally hit the gas instead of the break. She drove it right into our circle of camp chairs. She jumped off and dropped the motorcycle. Matt was holding Van and reached down to turn it off and Van’s face and hand touched the hot motorcycle pipe and burned him. It all happened so fast we didn’t even notice at first, but he was so sad! It looked terrible. Shawnee had some burn cream I put on it and today a week later it is nearly all healed. I am shocked at how fast it healed. It looked so bad at first. Maggie felt really bad, but luckily it wasn’t worse than it was.

East Canyon

My family did a low key vacation this year to East Canyon. We spent all day Thursday and Friday at the lake so the kids had plenty of time playing in the water and enjoying the boat. Matt and I both wake boarded and Corbin and Maggie knee boarded. The other kids loved the boat rides and the tube. Claire figured out the kayak and was able to do it alone, which was super cute. Erin brought her paddle board. My kids had never done that and really loved it. It was a beautiful weekend at the lake. It wasn't too hot when you weren't in the water, but it was still fun to play in it.
I love these vacations because of the time spent with cousins. Claire loves when anyone will give her attention and she has some amazing cousins! Gage was giving her rides, Grace put a little fabric braid in her hair and Abby was reading books with her laughing hysterically.
We didn't spend a lot of time at the house this year, which turned out to be a good thing because it wasn't our best VRBO experience. Overall, another successful trip in the books!

4th of July

Van and I got back to Plain City just in time to go to the kids bike parade. It's just these four littles these days. They are sure cute! Van rode his bike for about 30 seconds and then realized he can't ride it in a large crowd. He just walked until we found Grandpa Davis' house. Claire kept going because she wanted to stay riding with Jack.
Breakfast at Barb's is always fun. I like that all the Plain City Jenkins' still get together for it. Jay is the photographer of the morning that makes everyone pose for him. He had Shannon and me get together for a photo and I was glad because we have hardly any.

Then we head over to the square. This year it was actually really fun because it wasn't unbearably hot. Van insisted that his money from Grandpa be placed in his shirt pocket because it was the only pocket he had. It was actually kind of cute. The kids all get $10 from Mark to spend on whatever they want. Maggie always buys bath bombs. Claire and Kent got their hair sprayed. Van saw their hair and wanted his done to. But as soon as he sat in the chair he started screaming. Matt sat with him and had the kid do it anyway. It was terrible. Van absolutely hated it. Then when he looked in the mirror he got so upset because apparently he wanted green.
We went and ate lunch at my moms and Matt took Van on a ride to nap. Then we headed out to Willard Bay to boat with my dad and Shannon. We had just drove out and the kids were swimming. Matt wanted to try to ski so he got all ready and then the boat wouldn't go into gear. We ended up having to call for a tow. It was disappointing because it was the perfect night. No boats, clear water, and amazing temperature. The kids still had fun and we got a nice little ride in behind a jet ski.

July 3rd

We started the fourth of July off with dinner at Mark and Marianne's as usual. It's just a hangout night, kubb, we looked at pictures for a while. The kids get so excited for fireworks they can't even wait until it is dark. Kent was thrilled to light some of the fireworks. Van loved the fireworks, even though they were too loud for him. I always go home before the big firework show at night. My years of having a baby as an excuse to go home are coming to an end. Van was so sad this year that I was taking him before the fireworks were over. It is definitely the right choice though. Maggie and Corbin barely slept at all. Van and I got at least seven hours and were back for the kids parade.
