Christmas Village

On Monday we went with my family to see the lights at Ogden's Christmas Village. My mom and dad stayed home with Van, but everyone else was there. My kids played at the playground while we waited for everyone to get there. I think that was Claire's favorite part. Gage played hide and seek with her and it was the cutest! I love when the big kids play with my littles. The kids had so much fun running around with their cousins. I don't even know if they looked in any of the houses. Maggie definitely did, she commented on how we didn't give her enough time at each house. It was so busy that we walked through it pretty quick and only walked through about half. They didn't have an I spy game in the houses this year or the train because of Covid. So walking through half was really enough.

Davis Christmas Party

Our Davis family Christmas party was exciting this year mainly because it was the first time our whole family has been together in months. We haven't been doing dinners together since Covid, so it was so nice to see everyone all together. I didn't take any pictures of Van, but he was there enjoying being held the whole time. We ate dinner and played a few games. Erin made a darling Family Feud game. Maggie didn't like any of the games very much because our family didn't win anything.
My kids were so excited about the cousin gift exchange. Claire loved her presents and Van's. She thinks she got double the amount of presents since Van isn't big enough for his yet. My parents gave the kids an awesome galaxy night light that they love! Maggie was most excited about her cute new shirt and Claire got some peppa dolls that she has played with non stop. We gave our parents their gifts too. I love how much Claire loves to look at the calendars I make every year. Her and grandpa both loved it. Really it was just so nice to be together, even in masks.

Newborn Photos

I had my friend Jamie take Van's newborn photos. I debated not doing them since I have been hit and miss with my kids newborn photos. I am so glad I decided to have them done. He is so sweet!

Van Byron Jenkins

November 20, 2020

1:26 pm   8lbs

I had a scheduled induction because he was measuring big and my previous still born. Matt and I got to the hospital at 5:30 am. I checked in and was on penicillin by 7. Around 9 am my nurse started me on a small amount of pitocin. I was already at a 5 when I got to the hospital.  I asked for my epidural about noon because I knew Dr. Lammi was on his way to break my water. It was perfect timing because I never felt any contractions. After Dr. Lammi broke my water he stayed at the hospital for a while because I had warned him I went quick with Claire. This one was not nearly as fast. I had a ton of water, like a ton, so Van wasn't as far down. I was at a ten before one and he had me start pushing. I definitely had to push longer and harder than any other baby. Matt had made a joke about always wanting to deliver one of our babies so Dr. Lammi told him to glove up. After Van's head was out Matt pulled him the rest of the way. Finally he was born at 1:26 pm. He was on oxygen just for a minute to help with circulation, but he was here and healthy!

I tore and had a crazy amount of stitches, but everything seemed fine for the first little while. After a bit my nurse was worried because my bleeding never slowed down. I had blood clots in my uterus and was bleeding too heavy. My nurse put me on one med after another but nothing worked. I had a doctor from the same clinic as Lammi come and do an ultrasound to see the clots. He had to use his hand to scrape what he could out of my uterus and it was the worst pain ever! I was sobbing and begging him to stop. He got a lot of it and Dr. Lammi requested a fourth medication to try and stop the bleeding. Luckily, that one worked for me! Once the bleeding stopped I was crazy sore, but everything was good.

Saturday after Van had had a bath and been checked a nurse noticed his collar bone was broken. He had to have an xray to make sure. They don't do anything for it, except pin his sleeve to the front of his shirt to keep it still. The pin didn't work to good so I have pretty much kept him swaddled for the past two weeks. We were able to come home Saturday afternoon.

No visitors were able to come to the hospital, so everyone had to meet him after we came home. My kids were super excited, especially Maggie. I have been a little worried about his collar bone so the kids haven't held him very much yet. Just Maggie a couple times.

Halloween

Halloween was supposed to look different this year because of Covid-19, but it seemed to be one of the more normal things lately. My kids were able to dress up for school, although I didn't take any pictures that day. They still had class parties, just within their own class with no parents. Halloween was on a Saturday so we went to my moms to trick or treat and then to Marianne's for our normal chili dinner.  We trick or treated there for a bit and then headed home. Corbin went with his friend Hudson, Maggie went with Maybree in Pleasant View, and Matt took Kent and Claire around our neighborhood. I handed out a lot less treats than normal, but I felt like my kids had the same experience as always. It was a great night for them.

Corbin is an Urban Legend Monster - just a cool morph suit he wanted from Amazon. Maggie is a cheerleader. Kent is a ninja. Claire is a bride, one of Maggie's old dance costumes, and I loved it!

City of Rocks

Matt and I decided to take the kids to City of Rocks to camp over fall break this weekend. Matt got off early on Friday and we headed after lunch. There are no campsite reservations, it is just first come first serve. As we were driving the final road to the campsites we were panicked because there were so many cars driving out. We started looking through the campsites and there were cars everywhere. We were a little panicked when we got to the top and hadn't noticed a single empty site. We drove back down and Matt randomly chose one section to pull into with five sites. It looked crazy busy, but we realized it was just cars parked to hike and there were two empty sites. Corbin and Maggie sat at one and Kent and I sat at the other so they didn't get taken while Matt went to pay. Right after we paid Shannon and Jed pulled up.

We had a perfect spot. It was really close to the people next to us, but we didn't even notice. It was right by a huge rock wall and a cool trail to go explore. There was plenty of room for both of the tents too. We had hobo dinners made in the fire, a first for my kids. Then roasted marshmallows with sticks the kids found.

It was crazy windy at night, but my kids slept through it all. I didn't even want to get out of the tent in the morning because the wind was so bad. We made pancakes and bacon, but it took forever because the wind made it hard on our tiny griddle. The kids explored around the camp for a while in the morning and then we left about noon. We stopped at one other rock on our way out and walked around it and then headed out.

Corn Maze

Matt and I went to St. George last weekend for a little couples trip. It was short, but so nice! We were with Austin and Shawnee and Colby and Cayley. We stayed at Austin's parents house and pretty much just hung out. We did visit Toquerville Falls, which was cool, but crazy busy. And hiked to the Vortex. Which wasn't as cool as in the past because there was no water in it.

While we were gone our kids stayed with my mom the first night and Meredith the next night. On Thursday my mom took my kids to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin for each of them.

Friday night Meredith took them to Green Acres corn maze and my kids had a blast doing all of the activities there. Kent's favorite part was the hayride with all the information about the farm. Even the next day when I got home he could recite all the facts, like that the farm is 151 years old!
