Southern Utah Half Marathon

Meredith and I trained for a half marathon over the past 12 weeks. It was hard because I started late at 6 weeks post partum, but it was a good thing to get me going. I trained consistently and was super excited thinking I would be pretty close to my PR which was at this same course. Matt and I drove to St. George with Matt and Meri on Friday afternoon. We got to a VRBO house that Meri's neighbor had rented around 10. We talked for a while and then everyone fell asleep. I for some reason could not sleep. I only slept for like an hour and a half.
Saturday morning the race started at 7. It was terrible. I don't know if it was because of lack of sleep or what, but I had to stop and walk at like mile 8. I had trained up to 10 miles at a 9:20 pace. I was super bummed. I ended up walk jogging the rest and came in at 2:08:51. I was really hoping to finish under two hours. So the race was a huge disappointment. Not that my time was bad, but not at all what I had hoped and expected.
The rest of the day we hung out at the pool (it was a little windy, but the hot tub was nice,) went to lunch, stopped to watch some random Scottish games, and hung out at the house. It was low key and really nice.
Bishop Urry wanted to meet with me via zoom since I was out of town. He extended a call for me to serve in the Relief Society Presidency under Jackie Bowles. I am super excited for that!

Maggie's birthday

Maggie turned nine this year. She has quite the ongoing celebration. Her birthday was over spring break so she was able to open her present from us in the morning. She got a puzzle of her when she was four. Matt got home decently early so we went to Pizza Pie for dinner. My parents came up after and we sand and had doughnuts. My parents gave her the coolest flower making kit. The next morning we all spent hours making flowers.

The following Sunday she celebrated her birthday at Marianne's with cupcakes and a few presents. Then the next week, Maggie got to go shopping with Marianne to pick out a new dress. She came home with two new dresses and darling sandals.

Maggie got a friend birthday party on the 23rd. It had to be weeks later because our lives are little crazy right now with dance and soccer. She got to invite 13 friends to Elite gymnastics, which is like a giant playground to run and jump on.

It was an ongoing birthday month to celebrate this awesome nine year old!

Easter

Man, I am not very good at taking pictures of anything anymore. Van wasn't old enough to participate in the hunt so I didn't get any pictures of just him. Easter Saturday we do at Marianne's house now. It is definitely more convenient, but it does make me sad that my kids won't ever remember Antelope Island. We had dutch oven lunch and an easter egg hunt. The rest of the afternoon is just playing.

Kent broke his glasses at school (his spare pair.) So he went almost two weeks without any. He had an appointment the next week so we waited to buy some new ones.

Easter Morning

My kids had quite the time finding their Easter baskets this year. Now that they are getting older, they get much harder hiding spots. I didn't get great pictures because I was still in bed, but they had fun searching. They all got a new swimming suit and more candy than they needed.
