Family Camp Out

This past weekend was my family vacation to the Box Elder Campground in Mantua. We left Thursday afternoon and stayed until Saturday. The first day we just hung out at the campground. That night Erin brought glow in the dark games. Kent loved the first day especially. He loved just roaming and being outside for so long. I am a bad mom that keeps him inside a lot because it is too much work outside with our yard all torn up.
I kind of forget how fast kids get dirty when they are camping. Kent was filthy the entire time we were gone. Shannon finally cleaned him the first night because she felt bad for him being so gross. I washed him really good after we went to the beach, and he still came home disgusting. He had fun though, that's what counts.
On Friday we drove up to Hyrum dam and played on the beach. My dad brought his boat and my sisters all brought their kayaks. My kids mostly hung out on the sand, and loved it.
Shannon was in charge of a boat making game. Our boat probably came in third place, but the kids had a blast floating in them, or sitting in it on dry land. Well, actually Maggie was terrified the second Matt set her in the boat on the water, but Kent and Corbin loved it.
Kent loved my dad's boat. He had never been on it before because he stays home to nap or play with Grandma. He was almost asleep at one point, but the water was too choppy. He would be fast asleep and then get jolted awake by a big wave.
My craft was just painting rocks, which Maggie was thrilled about. She always wants to use my toll paints, so this was her favorite activity. She used enough paint for thirty rocks on her two.
Saturday morning Stephanie did a treasure hunt complete with an awesome treasure. The kids were all following the map when two kids from the camp over starting yelling at us that they found a treasure box. It was awesome, they found it before us. When we opened it one of the boys said, "it's full of stuff, not money!" They each got to keep a jump rope for helping our kids locate the treasure. Our kids came out with quite the stash of lollipops, waterbottles, jump ropes, squirt guns, and more.
Corbin and Kael are buddies right now, I love it. The pretty much stuck together the whole time. Playing soccer, ninjas, or just exploring. It makes me happy that they are so close.
My dad brought his brand "new" trailer with him and Kent and I were able to sleep in it both nights. It is amazing how much more fun camping is when you and your kids get sleep. The second night Kent slept from 9 pm to 7:30 am. That is as good as he does at home, It was marvelous. Maggie and Corbin slept in the trailer one night and the tent with Matt the other, they did great in both.

Weber County Fair

My kids and I were super bored today and Kent had woken up really early from his nap. So we headed to the fair. My kids loved feeding the petting zoo animals. Kent loved it the most. He moo-ed at every animal he saw.
They got hot real fast so after we played a few games and saw all the animals they were ready to head out. We were only there for a couple hours, but all three of my kids were free so it was a pretty cheap afternoon out of the house. My kids would have liked to have spent more, but I was too cheap to buy $5 pony rides and $8 bubble fun games. So we headed home to eat our homemade snow cones.
