Corbin's 8th birthday

I have turned out to be a pretty lame mom lately. Corbin's birthday was pretty uneventful, but I had to document that I have an eight year old!!! I may have bought his presents the night before his birthday at about 11 pm. He opened his presents in the morning right when he woke up. Water guns and a knife. Simple, because Cougar was mostly his birthday present. He was super excited about the knife and the kids played with the guns all morning.
I didn't have much planned for the day. He just wanted to go play with MaKenna. I was happy for that, a super easy thing. So we headed to Meri's for about five hours. Kent went out to Plain City to play with his friend Isaac. I picked them up just a couple hours before his sleep over with Grandpa Jenkins, so he wasn't actually home much.
Mark came to pick Corbin up at about five for his birthday sleepover. Max and Mason went with them. They went out to dinner, to a movie, and to buy gardening gloves for the boys. They slept at Marks (what little they slept.) Supposedly Corbin and Max were up until after 2 am! The next morning they worked out in the garden with Mark. He was so tired when he got home. He had an absolute fit about playing piano so I sent him to his room. He was asleep within a few minutes and we had to wake him up almost four hours later.
Both grandparents celebrated his birthday on Sunday. We went to my parents first for dinner and he opened some presents.
After dinner we headed over to Mark and Marianne's for more birthday celebrations for Malcolm, Michelle, and Corbin.
He was a little unsure about his roller blades. He couldn't let go of furniture without grabbing on to whoever was by him. He has only tried them once since, he is slightly afraid of them.

He already had his baptism interview with the bishop and is getting excited to be baptized this weekend.

Spring Pictures

I had Erin take my kids spring pictures this year. They are so cute! Corbin is almost 8, Maggie is 6, Kent is 4, and Claire is 4 months. Claire was a little tricky because she couldn't sit up very good, we only got one good one of her, but the other three had a ton.

Cougar

The day after I got home from New York, I went to pick up our new dog Cougar. I had planned it out before I left. Matt and I have been promising Corbin a dog when he turns eight for years. I knew I couldn't handle a puppy and have a new born. My cousin's brother had their 7 month old yellow lab for sale so we went for it. He was a pretty good deal and they had been training him well. Matt really wanted to change his name, but the kids over ruled him, they liked it (having no clue about anything to do with BYU.)
Kent loved him at first, but has slowly grown to not love him as much. He doesn't hate him, but doesn't really want much to do with him now.
Corbin was so excited and loves him. Unfortunately Corbin still is not quite old enough to take care of Cougar. He wants to play with him more than I let him, but I have to be outside with him if Cougar is out. We have already lost him way too many times. One morning I had to chase him for twenty minutes to get him away from another dog, that owner finally went in his house. I even had to pay to get him out of the animal shelter on Tuesday after he got lost. We really need a fence! Corbin asks every night if he can go take Cougar out with Matt.
The first couple weeks Maggie did the very best with him. She still can take care of him good, but doesn't want to.
Matt actually likes Cougar more than he thought he would, but he is a lot of work. We, meaning Matt, is trying to train him to sleep downstairs and it is a long process. I think I will really love him in a year. I like him now, but I don't have the time for him that I should. Having a dog and a newborn is difficult.

Memorial Day

Matt's family goes swimming every year for Memorial day at the Clearfield pool. First we went to lunch at Rumbi's. Then we headed to the pool and met Matt there, because he was just getting off work. My kids were so excited this year, especially Kent. He loved every second of it. On the way home he told me, "I think I had the funnest of everyone!" And I completely agreed. Clearfield has a great section for littles and Kent loved the big slide.
I didn't play with Maggie the entire time we were there because she was too busy with all her cousins. They even braved the outside bounce house, which I would not go to because it was so cold outside.
Claire Bear sat this year out, hanging with Grandpa on the sides. Luckily she is the best baby ever and just smiled and slept.

We are so blessed to spend so much time with all our wonderful family!

Kent's 4th Birthday

Part of Kent's birthday was the dog, so his birthday from us was very simple, just a couple books. It did complete the Ninjago series, so he liked them a lot. He actually isn't too interested in Cougar, so it was a pretty lame present, but my kids really don't need more. Between Matt and me and grandparents, he got plenty.
We hung out at my parents for a while after church. Kent got Thanos' gauntlet, which he was thrilled about! This was definitely the favorite present of his birthday.
We also celebrated at Marianne's that night, with Kenna. I haven't made Kent a cake for two years in a row because it has fallen on holidays or vacations with the Jenkins. I love it, but I do think he felt a little bad this year that I didn't make him a cute one. He already had told me he wanted a ninjago one, oops!

Seriously, this kid! I love him so much! He is hilarious without even trying, partly because he is so dramatic (for a four year old and for a boy!)
