Last night Matt, Corbin, and Kent were watching the BYU - UTAH football game. We still don't have a basement so they were all upstairs in the main room. Maggie and I didn't want to stay for the game so we took Van and Claire to frightmares. It was super unlike me because it was already after 7, but I knew they couldn't go to bed until after the game anyway. It was so fun! We did all three of the kids walk through trick or treating things, rode a few rides, found a few scary people to look at and headed home. I was surprised at how hard it was to find workers in costume. There wasn't a show going so I guess they were all in the haunted houses. We found a couple at least and it was fun to see.

Frightmares
RUSH
Last Thanksgiving Matt and I bought Rush passes that we finally used this week. For Fall Break we couldn't go anywhere because Kent had a playoff game yesterday so we chose to stay home and do fun things. I had never been to Rush before and had so much fun! All six of us went (during the day when Matt was at work.) We did all the things, foam pit, laser tag, bowling, mini golf, go carts, bumper cars, and Van sat at all the arcades he wanted to play and pretended because I didn't buy arcade cards. I feel like I can never get all five of my kids engaged in the same thing, so I loved this so much! Corbin probably wouldn't have chose to come, but I told him he had to pick this or Lagoon so he chose Rush. We stayed for a few hours and Van and I easily could have stayed longer, but everyone else was already out sitting in the car. It was a super fun way to spend fall break.

Cross Country
Corbin's Cross Country season started so strong and then was a little rough this year. He ran an amazing race at time trials and was able to make it on the Varsity team for the pre region race. That race ended up getting cancelled because of a wild fire on the hill, some athletes were evacuated and they opted to cancel. He still was able to run varsity at Freber and ran great, an 18:11! That didn't keep him on varsity, but a huge PR. He ended up fighting an IT band injury for the majority of the season. He missed the next few races and then came back for a couple, but wasn't racing nearly as fast as he started. Finally he is feeling good with just one race left this week, Region. He may not PR again, but I am so glad he is back to racing, even if it's only one race.
Update: He ran region this week and had an awesome race! He finished at 18:29. Such an amazing end to a bummer season. I am so glad he was able to run one more time and finish so strong!
Weber Football
Kent tried football for the first time this year. It has been such a good thing for him. A learning curve for sure, but overall he has enjoyed it. It was so fun watching him try something new. Grandpa Jenkins sure loved that he played, which made it even better. They lost their playoff game 12-14, but it was such a great game to watch. It really was an awesome first season! Weber #54
School Carnival
Kent was really excited for the school carnival this year because as a peer leader he was able to help run a game for the first half. He and his friend Halli were in charge of the football throw. He said part way through he started putting his face in the target circle and way more people started making the ball through. He was pretty proud of his idea. When his shift was done he was able to go play and be splashed in the dunk tank. I worked the cotton candy machines for hours before the carnival because Matt was out of town so I had to be available during it to be with Claire and Van. I called Maggie to come help and she ended up volunteering for a couple hours too, so it ended up being a family affair. Matt and Corbin were on a young men's campout.
Van and Claire loved getting face paint and playing the games. Claire is happy doing anything if she gets to be with her friends.
Blossom Flower Farm
For my mom's birthday we went to the Blossom Flower Farm to pick our own bouquet. It was such a simple fun night. You show up and get clippers and then go clip any and all the flowers you want and organize them in a vase that you bring. I thought it was super fun and it was a fun night with my mom and sisters.
Homecoming
I was excited that Corbin went to Homecoming this year. I didn't know if he would. One night he was at his friend Jackson's and his sister Avary initiated the whole thing. She took them to buy all the stuff, helped them make posters, picked girls for them to ask, and drove them around to ask the girls. Corbin went to homecoming with Olivia Marriott. It was a little stressful getting everything planned and carried out, but overall turned out good. I loved his flowers. She bought the tie so it matched perfectly. He did have to leave his cross country race early for the day date at Toad's, but that ended up being his favorite part of the day.
Labor Day
I took the kids and went to the Mountain House for Labor Day with Matt's family. He couldn't go because he had to work. The first night was kind of funny because it was Meredith, and then Matt A, Steve, Adam, and me. The inlaws were there, but the Jenkins were still working. Michelle and Missy did come up later, but Matt didn't get to. He actually went to Steph's house in Malad for Sunday dinner while I hung out with his family in Ashton.
We just hung out and played games for a couple days. It was really fun to just chill and not have plans. The older kids made a teepee and Claire and Van played in it for a bit. It made me so happy because it reminded me so much of Causey growing up. Van and Quentin played legos for hours over the weekend. I love that they are such good friends now.
We went to church up there for the first time. Kent, Claire, and Van stayed with me for the second hour and they went to primary while I went to the fifth Sunday meeting. I hadn't been to another ward for a long time and my kids never had. I really enjoyed the experience.
