It doesn't surprise me that Kent has the first broken bone in our family.
On Labor Day, the kids were swimming at my moms. I didn't see exactly what happened, but Kent was climbing the ladder to the slide and I heard him screaming. I ran over to him and Steph followed. He was holding his arm and Steph thought it was broken. I carried him inside and let him watch a show for a while. After a few minutes he could move his arm all over so we didn't think it was broken. All night he complained it hurt and he wasn't using it at all. The next morning I took him in to a doctor. Dr. White asked Kent where it hurt and he held his elbow. I thought it was around his elbow too. They did an x-ray, but it wasn't broken. The doctor told me if it wasn't feeling better in a week to bring him back in.
All week was rough. Anytime he used it too much it hurt him. He cried every time I put a shirt on him. He hurt it on the tramp and riding his scooter. His arm just dangled by his side the whole week. On Monday morning I took him back in. This time Dr. White x-rayed his shoulder area. His bone was broke right above where they had done the x-ray the week before. Because it was so high they couldn't cast it. It was a clean break, not displaced and not on a growth plate, so we were super lucky. He has to wear a sling for three weeks and then go back in for a follow up x-ray to see how it is healing.

The sling the doctor wanted him to wear didn't fit. So they put him in a baby sling with an ace bandage around it. They said they would find another one and call us when they had one. They never could find one. The sling and bandage was worthless. It didn't help at all. Kent would pull his arm out and he using it the best he could. I found another one on Amazon that is so much better. Kent hates it because it is thick and makes him sweaty, but hopefully his arm heals well with it.
