Kent just finished his regular season of football. They had a great season and finished 6-1. Playoffs start next week. This year has been such a better experience than last year. He has grown a ton in football and physically it has been so good for him. The team as a whole is significantly better than last year which makes playing much more enjoyable.

Soccer
Van started his first year of soccer this year. He is very hit and miss if he likes it or not, but he is doing great. His coach is fun and their positions are all parts of a rocket. He does a great job of making it fun for them. The first few games he was a little emotional, but he is getting better and enjoying it even more. The first game he was very worried about how many people were coming to watch him, so Grandma Davis, Spencer, and Maggie all came to watch.
Substitute Teaching
Van started all day kindergarten this fall and I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to do with all of my time. I did the training and classes to be a substitute teacher. My first job was just two class periods at Weber High. I have since been at the Junior High and Elementary was well. The elementary is my favorite, but it is definitely the most work. I did a second grade class and it was really fun. First grade was way harder! The half days at the junior high and high school get paid the best because you get the same amount of pay for any half day no matter the actual amount of time. So when I subbed for one class period I still got a half day pay. I got a parking ticket last time I was at Weber. I was parked in Sub parking spots and I had to call the school and have them remove it.
I don't know how much I will sub, but it is a good option. It works really good with my schedule because I usually take them at the last minute when I know I am available. I got my first pay check this week and that was kind of fun too.
Hiking
Shannon and I have been hiking a few times since the kids started back to school. I have never been much of a hiker, but I am loving it. Especially right now with all the fall colors. We hiked Malan's peak this week and it was gorgeous! I love having time to hike and especially having Shannon to go with, it is so fun!
Teeth
Van came home from school one day and told me his tooth was wiggly. I hadn't noticed before he told me and it was so loose, I pulled it out a few minutes later. He was so excited. Our poor tooth fairy really struggles and Van was very disappointed the next morning because she hadn't come. Luckily, she came the next morning but didn't leave what she left for every other Jenkins kid's first tooth so again he was sad. That night he was able to find a little extra money that he must have missed in the morning and everything was made right.
Claire has had an expander in her mouth for the past few months trying to spread out her teeth to make room for more to come in. It has been working pretty good and now they added a few brackets to her top teeth. Within a few hours her two front teeth were perfectly straight. It is accomplishing its purpose too, because her laterals and finally coming in. Claire was thrilled with her braces. She smiled the entire day and couldn't wait to show everyone.
Royal Run and City County
Corbin's last few races of this cross country regular season were amazing! Shannon and I were watching at the Royal Run, which is my very favorite race, and we heard his coach Josh say Corbin is pushing it. I asked if I heard him right and he said Corbin was leading the entire JV race. As soon as they came up the sidewalk from the neighborhood we could see Corbin in first! It was seriously so exciting! He lead the rest of the race until the downhill at the very end when one boy passed him and won it. There were two JV races so Corbin came in 4th overall, but it was so great! He had homecoming so he couldn't even stay for his first ever awards, but it was an awesome way to start the day.
City County was the next week and Corbin found his spot and led until the finish and won the entire JV race! It was such a great race to watch. Corbin ran a 17:47. His time even beat Coy on varsity so he was able to bump him off to run Varsity for the final race of the regular season. I had to go drive all my other kids to their things so I missed the awards assembly, but Corbin was there to accept his own award this time. I know Corbin is excited about his times. He has been working really hard this season after his later start because of his Alaska vacation and it is paying off!
HOCO
Corbin went to homecoming with Ellie Fowers. He had a great time. They painted rocks and went on a hike for their day activity. Corbin was rushing to make it after his race, but it went great. Then they went to Mantua for pictures and had to wait out a rain storm, but the location was great once the rain stopped. Dinner was at Maddox and then they went to the dance. He said he really enjoyed the night.
Jed and Calli's Wedding
Jed and Calli got Married on September 12. It was a fun afternoon. They didn't get married until like 2, so we were able to do all our kids sports in the morning and then head to the Ogden temple for their sealing. After the sealing we went to Malad for the dinner and reception. It was very low key and so nice. It was all in Calli's parents back yard and it was beautiful. The meal was delicious and it was fun to hang out and visit with friends and family for a beautiful evening. Everyone was supposed to wear black so when we were leaving I felt like my kids were a little casual, but we fit in just fine. It's kind of crazy my family is to this point of weddings.
