Summer Randoms

It is hard to believe this summer is almost over. Here are a few randoms from the past few months.

Everly's birthday party at kidstopia.
Kent got braces! His teeth were sore for football that night but other than that he loves them!
Mason and Max came home from their missions and Corbin is as tall as them! We had grandkid pictures with the Jenkins. Also, Kent got contacts for two weeks (which included grandkid pictures.) He didn't like them and went back to glasses, so it's kind of funny to have this picture forever without his glasses.
Swimming lessons and swimming at North Shore with cousins.
A 2500 puzzle that was split between two tables in our piano room. It took me forever and no one else really liked to work on it because there was barely enough room to squeeze around the tables.
We went around the sprinklers to the park, and then ended up playing in them for a half hour on the way home.
Lorin Farr Pool and then watching the Sandlot after.
Sunday dinner at Steph's and playing with Winnie.
Dinosaur Park prize for the library summer reading program.
Surprising the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders by pushing them into a pool.
Random  blue name pancakes because that's what Van wanted for breakfast.
Summers are exhausting and hot, but so much fun!!!

Cub River

My family doesn't choose to camp very often, but when we do it is to Cub River. They are seriously amazing camp sites. We get the same five sites all right on the river. This year we went to Preston and tubed the Oneida Narrows. It was the perfect section of river. A few little rapids that made it exciting and just the right length. Claire didn't want to go, but we ended up having a blast.
There was plenty of boondoggle and painting. Maggie and Adley painted the cornhole boards that we started a few years ago. Bryce took Beau and Corbin on a morning run to Bloomington Lake. The boys spent most of Friday building a dam in the river. I don't know who started it but they moved rocks the entire day to build this dam. Corbin lost his flip flop down the river and had to buy new slides at Family Dollar in Preston. Kent and Spencer tubed the river a little, but it wasn't easy because it's so shallow. The water was freezing! It was shocking the boys could stay in it so long. Their feet got so numb they couldn't feel anything. Kent had a huge sore, so deep, from his crocs rubbing and he didn't even notice until the next morning because his feet were so numb. It was a pretty chill weekend, but so fun! Both nights everyone sat around the campfire together. We made woofums and smores. Camping is hard for me because I don't sleep well, but I am glad we do it every once in a while.

Corbin's first day of work

Corbin has a job! It is really crazy to me that Corbin is 16 and old enough to have a job. He applied for a couple jobs near us, but with vacations and cross country nothing really would have worked. Aunt Shelly hired him on a Buckle in Layton and it is super flexible and perfect. He worked his first week with Morgan, who trained him and has worked a day with Kenna. It is a little bit of a drive, but so far it has been great.

Ashton

Matt and I took Maggie and her friends to Ashton for two nights in July. Ashton Hill was completely infested with mormon crickets and it was crazy. The girls didn't even want to walk out of the house because there were crickets everywhere. They mostly hung out in the house but we did go to the watering hole in St. Anthony one afternoon. It was raining when we got there and a little cold, but it warmed up nicely and they all had fun I think. The paddleboards are always a hit.
Matt and I went out on a drive one night just to explore a road we had never been on. Both mornings we tried a new section of the Ashton-Tetonia trail. The first one was boring because it just followed a fast road that was decently busy. The second section was a lot cooler because we made it to a trestle bridge over the river. It was really pretty. My favorite section is the one closest to our house, but it is currently closed for paving.

Independence day

This year the third of July was a little different because fireworks were banned for individuals. Kent was so sad since that is his very favorite part. We still had dinner and played nine square and other games in the backyard. The girls still love getting matching outfits from grandma and everyone (kind of) loves staying up late and sleeping outside. I don't have any little to bring home with me so I went home by myself to sleep.
The next morning the bike parade started earlier than every other year so we were  a few minutes behind the official parade. I was glad Maggie opted out of the Cherry Days parade with cheer and wanted to stay in Plain City with us. I love the parade and breakfast at Barb's. Grandpa Jenkins gave each of the kids money and Van was thrilled to go to the square and buy 3D prints.

In the afternoon the boys put the tramp up at Grandpa Davis'. The mat broke years ago and they just bought a new one. It was so hot, but the kids were excited to have a tramp again.

Founder's Day Parade

Maggie was in the Pleasant View Founder's day parade with North's Cheer team this year. It was a rainy morning, but better than the heat. Claire and Van opted to come with me, while Corbin and Kent went to the ward party with Matt.
