Broken Arm

Claire was reading on the chair in the family room one day and Van was in her face bugging her so she pushed him off the arm of the chair. He must have tried to catch himself or someone landed just wrong and broke his arm. He literally just fell two feet onto the carpet. He was so sad but I told him he was fine. We got ready and went to a track meet out in Syracuse. I told him he could watch a show on the way, but he wouldn't hold the phone. That's when I figured it was actually broken. I got him the tablet on the back of the seat and we headed to the meet though. The next morning I took him into the doctor and it was broken. The doctor went to splint it and then realized the orthopedic next door works on Thursday mornings. His nurse went over and talked to them and they got us right in. We just walked down the hall and then Van got his cast and we were headed home. It actually worked out so nice that I didn't take him in until the next morning. Dr. Higbee, the orthopedic gave me the option of a brace or a hard cast. I chose the hard cast. I  hated when Kent had a broken bone and they didn't cast it. I was regretting my decision for the first night but since have been very happy with it. He still plays hard and has landed on it more than once. He was super happy when we left the doctors with his amazing snake he got for a prize. He actually was great all that day because of all the attention. That night though he asked me how we take it off to sleep and he realized very quickly that casts aren't very fun. He has been so great with it though and he now has less than two weeks left.

Antelope Island

For Easter Saturday we were at Antelope Island with the Jenkins. The bugs were terrible the week before, but luckily it got cold enough that they didn't bother us much. We got out there early and walked down to the water. It is crazy how long of a walk it is. I bet it's about a half mile from the campsites. In all the years we have done antelope island, I have never walked to the lake. It was a perfect day of flying kites, playing with bubbles, eating dutch oven. and an egg hunt like always. I didn't really take any pictures, but we had a lot of fun. The buffalo came super close this year. They were in the campsite right next to us for a while and then they walked down the road the the one on the opposite side of us. I don't think they have ever come that close, but it was nice the avoided our site completely.

North Track

Maggie tried track for the first time this year. She enjoyed it a lot. She missed the first meet because of cheer tryouts, but she ran the 800 in the other three. I don't know if she will do it again or not, but I think it was a good first season.

Weber Track

Corbin had a great track season! He had a new personal record nearly every race. He finished the season with 5:04 mile and he ran the two mile once with 11:24.74. It was so fun to watch him improve so much. Van was a trooper and ended up at every track meet (even when he had just broke his arm a few minutes before.) He got spikes for the first time this season and loved them. The first time he raced in them he got spiked and a chunk of the foam came out, but luckily they still lasted the entire season.

Prom

Corbin went to Prom with Kaitlyn Tolman. He asked her super late one night with a poster I never actually saw. Then when she answered him back she brought it to the wrong house. Jami, her mom, texted for my address so I figured Kaitlyn was coming that night and then she just never did. The next morning my neighbor across the street texted me asking if Corbin asked a girl named Kaityln to prom. I said yes. She said that her next door neighbors had received his answer on their porch the night before and thought it was for them so brought it over. Initially they thought it was right because Keegan asked Kate to prom. Anyway, he ended up getting it all the next morning and had a great time with her. Another fun prom moment, Corbin told me a few weeks before prom all of his friends were wearing suits. I tried twice to get him to go into the store to buy a suit and he never wanted to. Two hours before he left for prom he told me he was the only one without a suit coat. Luckily Kent had one that Corbin was able to borrow and he looked sharp.
They played pickleball at The Kitchen for their day activity. For dinner they went to Prairie Schooner and Corbin double tipped his waitress because he didn't realize what the gratuity already included in his check meant. Which, is much better than not tipping her at all. Overall a great dance night.

Zoo

We started spring break this year with a trip to the zoo. Luckily, Shannon and her boys were with us so I was able to get my older kids to come. I think it was Van's first time and he loved it until the crocodile wouldn't move. We waited for 10 minutes and it never moved then his whole day was ruined and the zoo is terrible. The zoo is a little expensive, but it definitely worth doing every once in a while.

Dance Comps

Claire just finished her third comp season and Maggie did a solo this year. Claire danced to "I Don't Dance" and it was my favorite! Her facials are amazing when she dances. She also had a lyrical and hip hop dance. It competed so well too. Maggie danced to "Goodbye" by Cage the Elephant

California

Maggie and I went on a little girls trip to California a couple weeks ago. MaKenna was cheering at a comp in Anaheim so Meredith and Bree were going to watch her and we tagged along. It was so fun! We left Thursday evening after cheer practice and flew into LA. I was shocked at how terrible the LA traffic was at 11 pm. We just did an Uber everywhere we went for the weekend, and it was fun to see what driver we would end up with. Our first driver in LA was fast. Which I guess was nice because it was late. When we got to the hotel they didn't have a room available for us, even though we had one booked so we got upgraded to two suites with a king bed next to each other. The upgrade was quite nice because now we had our own bathrooms too. Friday morning we went to Newport beach and rented bikes. We biked along the beach trail, did a little shopping, and ate lunch on the pier with the seagulls (that Bree was scared of.) After lunch we went to the Anaheim convention center to watch MaKenna cheer. I had never been to a cheer comp before. They are quite different from cheer comps, but it was super fun to see her. We hung out with Kenna a little after and got a treat and then we went back to the hotel. That night we swam and ordered pizza delivered.
Saturday morning we went to Disney land right as it opened. We started at the Lightning McQueen ride and it was insane busy. I loved Cars Land though. It was definitely the highlight of my trip. It was fun to do Disney with only the two older girls too. I told them I wouldn't do two rides, Incredicoaster and Guardians of the Galaxy, other than that I would ride what they did. The only ride I did that I really didn't like was Space Mountain, and its line was so long. We spend the morning in Disney and after lunch went to California Adventure. We road a ton of rides, ate a delicious lunch in the park and the girls were ready to be done by 8 pm. I wanted to see Cars Land lit up with the Neon lights so we went back to Disneyland to see that.
Sunday Morning we had to check out of our hotel, but our flight didn't leave until 7 pm. I looked online and found a couple options for church. I got a little confused by the time I looked at so many. I wanted it somewhat close to the beach because that was the plan after. I ended up taking us to a 1:00 ward instead of 12:00 so we went to Young Women's and Relief Society first with one ward and then Sacrament meeting with the next ward. It ended up working okay because the 1:00 ward was a single adult ward. We caught another Uber and took all of our luggage to the beach afterwards. We looked quite silly hauling our suitcases across the sand. Maggie was able to get in the ocean though. She didn't swim, but she did put her feet in. We hung out for a couple hours and then headed to the airport.
