Jed and Calli's Wedding

Jed and Calli got Married on September 12. It was a fun afternoon. They didn't get married until like 2, so we were able to do all our kids sports in the morning and then head to the Ogden temple for their sealing. After the sealing we went to Malad for the dinner and reception. It was very low key and so nice. It was all in Calli's parents back yard and it was beautiful. The meal was delicious and it was fun to hang out and visit with friends and family for a beautiful evening. Everyone was supposed to wear black so when we were leaving I felt like my kids were a little casual, but we fit in just fine. It's kind of crazy my family is to this point of weddings.

Cheer Photos

I love her cheer pictures this year! Her and Abbi are the head captains with the other 9th graders as co-captains. I hope it is an amazing year for cheer!

First Day of School

The kids all started school last week. Corbin is a junior at Weber and can drive himself this year, hallelujah! Maggie is in 9th grade at North Ogden Junior High. Kent is in 7th, his first year of Junior high. Claire is in 3rd grade with Mrs. Buck and Van started kindergarten with Mrs. Nelson.
Van's first week of school was a little tougher than I had hoped. The first day he was so excited. He was up and ready no problem. We rode bikes together and he did great. Him and I waited by the kindergarten doors and it was crazy. There were so many parents and excited kids. Van was very quiet. I tried to introduce him to a few people, but I think it was a little overwhelming. He walked right in and did great though. I was waiting for him when he got out of the school and as soon as he saw me he started to cry. I felt so bad. When he came to me, he told me that I made him a liar. He had told his new friend that I had introduced him to, Cora, that his sister was going to pick him up, but I did. He was so sad! To make matters worse we went to ride bikes home and I told him he had to walk his bike off of school grounds. He was so mad. We got across the cross walk and he threw his bike down and cried for the next 10 minutes until he was finally ready to ride home. Claire had already given up and rode her bike home before us. That day he told me he hated school. As I talked to him about school there wasn't anything he didn't like, I think riding home was just too much. The rest of the week I let Claire pick Van up and I met them past the cross walk and drove them home. It went much better. Van continued to tell me he didn't like school, but he didn't actually seem to hate it. I talked to my friend, an aide at the school and she said he was doing great and definitely didn't hate it while he was there. This week has been better and I think he is adjusting nicely.
Claire loves all of it. She got the teacher she wanted, who is amazing! Most of her friends are not in her class, but she was excited to see them all on the first day.
Kent is adjusting well to Junior high. He thought it started off a little slow with all the disclosures, but he is ready to learn and I think he will love being out of elementary. I do think he was a little nervous the first day. I had to drive Maggie, but Kent chose to ride the bus. He left super early, as I was leaving to take Maggie. He was supposed to meet Elliot and Xander at Elliot's but he waited maybe 30 seconds and then went alone. He said he was the first one there. Junior High is the first time my kids ride the bus to school.
Maggie and Corbin school is pretty similar to last year. The biggest change for Maggie is her new cheer coach and recognizing that this year will definitely be different than last, but still great.

Summer Randoms

It is hard to believe this summer is almost over. Here are a few randoms from the past few months.

Everly's birthday party at kidstopia.
Kent got braces! His teeth were sore for football that night but other than that he loves them!
Mason and Max came home from their missions and Corbin is as tall as them! We had grandkid pictures with the Jenkins. Also, Kent got contacts for two weeks (which included grandkid pictures.) He didn't like them and went back to glasses, so it's kind of funny to have this picture forever without his glasses.
Swimming lessons and swimming at North Shore with cousins.
A 2500 puzzle that was split between two tables in our piano room. It took me forever and no one else really liked to work on it because there was barely enough room to squeeze around the tables.
We went around the sprinklers to the park, and then ended up playing in them for a half hour on the way home.
Lorin Farr Pool and then watching the Sandlot after.
Sunday dinner at Steph's and playing with Winnie.
Dinosaur Park prize for the library summer reading program.
Surprising the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders by pushing them into a pool.
Random  blue name pancakes because that's what Van wanted for breakfast.
Summers are exhausting and hot, but so much fun!!!

Cub River

My family doesn't choose to camp very often, but when we do it is to Cub River. They are seriously amazing camp sites. We get the same five sites all right on the river. This year we went to Preston and tubed the Oneida Narrows. It was the perfect section of river. A few little rapids that made it exciting and just the right length. Claire didn't want to go, but we ended up having a blast.
There was plenty of boondoggle and painting. Maggie and Adley painted the cornhole boards that we started a few years ago. Bryce took Beau and Corbin on a morning run to Bloomington Lake. The boys spent most of Friday building a dam in the river. I don't know who started it but they moved rocks the entire day to build this dam. Corbin lost his flip flop down the river and had to buy new slides at Family Dollar in Preston. Kent and Spencer tubed the river a little, but it wasn't easy because it's so shallow. The water was freezing! It was shocking the boys could stay in it so long. Their feet got so numb they couldn't feel anything. Kent had a huge sore, so deep, from his crocs rubbing and he didn't even notice until the next morning because his feet were so numb. It was a pretty chill weekend, but so fun! Both nights everyone sat around the campfire together. We made woofums and smores. Camping is hard for me because I don't sleep well, but I am glad we do it every once in a while.
